The article reveals the essence of polyphonic hearing as an important quality of a music teacher. It is noted that quite a lot of scientific research has been devoted to the study of various types of musical hearing and their improvement. At the same time, the development of polyphonic hearing as a kind of musical hearing remains largely out of the attention of scientists, despite the enormous developmental potential of polyphony and its ability to stimulate the creative thinking of the performer. That is why it is important to determine the essence and structure of polyphonic hearing in order to develop a methodology for its formation in the conditions of professional training of a future teacher-musician to ensure a high level of all professional qualities.
Accordingly, the structure of the future music teacher's polyphonic hearing consists of four components: intonation-harmonic, timbral-dynamic, articulatory-reproductive, and logical-dramaturgical. Each of these components also has its own subcomponents. The intonation or melodic component is considered the ability to perceive a melody and react emotionally to it. The harmonic component functions directly with the inner hearing and is characterized by the ability to distinguish several simultaneously sounded notes, feeling the beauty of their consonance. The timbral-dynamic component of polyphonic hearing involves recognizing the timbre and dynamics of each voice, which significantly affects the definition of the figurative nature of the work. The articulatory-reproductive component of polyphonic hearing reveals the method of performing a series of sounds with the voice or on a musical instrument, improving the technical capabilities of students in the process of piano training, because without them, the performer's technique will not serve to reveal musical images. The logical and dramaturgical component of polyphonic hearing is aimed at developing a sense of the form of the work and the representation of a complete musical picture. The formation of all components of polyphonic hearing develops polyphonic thinking in students, which becomes an important factor in creating reliable interpretations of musical works.
