The article reveals a system-competency approach to the formation of practical experience in the professional activity of students of art faculties of universities. The professional competence of a music teacher reflects the appropriate level of knowledge, skills, and experience in the fields of conducting-choir, vocal performance, instrumental performance, music theory, education, etc., the ability to complexly and effectively implement which enables full-fledged combined music lessons and extracurricular activities. The components of vocal performance experience are singled out, which integrate: experience as a product of cognitive activity about the content and characteristic features of vocal performance recorded in relevant knowledge; experience gained directly in the process of public singing on stage, in the classroom at an art lesson, in a vocal or choral group in front of students, etc., transformed into vocal and performing skills; experience of vocal performance reliability, which is expressed in the ability to effectively solve problematic situations of public vocal performance; experience that exists in the form of personal orientations, thanks to which the success of vocal performance acquires personal meaning for the future music teacher. The application of the system-competency approach provides an opportunity to consider the professional training of students of art faculties of pedagogical universities as a process through which future music teachers can gain and accumulate cumulative experience of vocal performance, which, in turn, enables the formation of vocal-performance competence in them as an important component of professional competence.
