Training students of art majors to perform early Baroque music: artistic, stylistic, and technological aspects

The article investigates the cultural, historical, artistic, aesthetic, genre, and stylistic features of the Baroque period and determines the importance and expediency of applying an authentic approach to the performance of ancient Baroque music in modern music performance. The basic principles of musical thinking in the Baroque period are substantiated, which are conditioned by the appeal to the unique essence of the human "I". The emergence of new Baroque musical instruments and new genres of instrumental music – sonata, concerto, suite, etc. – is revealed. The works of famous music researchers and representatives of the authentic performance movement are analyzed.
It has been found that musical and performing creativity, as a phenomenon of world musical culture, is closely related to the processes of civilizational development of mankind and reflects the worldview, aesthetic principles, and spiritual values of each historical era through specific musical and expressive means. It is revealed that in modern music and performing arts, the traditions of authentic performance of ancient music represent a separate and distinctive area of performance activity.
In this regard, the artistic, stylistic, and technological aspects of training students of artistic specialties to perform ancient Baroque music with an authentic approach are highlighted. The peculiarities of students' acquisition of relevant knowledge and technical skills for deep mastery of the specific skills necessary for authentic performance in the Baroque style are revealed. Practical advice on how a teacher can work with students on musical works of the Baroque period is given. It is proved that the application of the authentic approach awakens in the student a sense of independence and a creative approach to music performance, which allows him to develop as an artist, musician, interpreter, and promotes a deeper understanding of the historical and stylistic context of the Baroque period.
