Abstract

Brexit, the pandemic, the sanctions policy have not had a good impact on the Great Britain`s economic in the past decades. The economic and political realities of 2022 demonstrated that like Great Britain, Ukraine, needs an "economic miracle." M. Thatcher, as the prime minister, managed to turn this "miracle" into reality. Even earlier, Britain managed to solve a large-scale post-war economic crisis. Identifying examples of the successful experience of the government of Great Britain during the implementation of current tasks in the socio-economic sphere made it possible to substantiate the ways of improving the activity of the government of Ukraine in order to increase the level of political responsibility and overcome the negative socio-economic consequences of the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. Political-historical, comparative-historical methods, the method of expert consultation were use in this article. The article finds out that the recovery of Europe according to the Marshall Plan helped Great Britain, but the subsequent exclusion from the EEC caused a lag in economic development. The factors of further economic success of Great Britain were the reforms of M. Thatcher's government: privatization of loss-making state enterprises; reduction of income tax and increase of indirect taxes; reduction of subsidies to enterprises, depressed regions; reforming the state apparatus; stimulation of small business development; support for scientific research; deregulation of industry, business, social sphere. The ways of improving the activity of the government of Ukraine in order to increase the level of political responsibility and achieve the expected results in the socio-economic sphere have been determined: the creation of a global fund for victims of the aggression of the Russian Federation (Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova); military successes, Ukraine's victory in the war are new opportunities for the government to carry out unpopular reforms; promoting Ukraine as an important part of European food and military security - an alternative to rivalry in the community; full membership in the EU is a natural way to improve the post-war economic situation of Ukraine.
