The article focuses on the need to determine the levels of completeness of students’ informatics competences of pedagogical higher educational institutions of I-II accreditation levels, who studied informatics. This problem is not examined in terms of assessment of student learning, but to test professionalism of the teacher, including the correctness of his teaching methods, selection of topics and issues for studying. Taking it into consideration, there were reviewed characteristic levels of students’ informatics competences; justified the need for monitoring informatics competences as a necessary element of improving the professionalism of the teacher of computer science.
