Requirements for design and procedure for submitting a publication for publication

In the collection “Scientific Journal of the Ukrainian State University named after Mykhailo Drahomanov. Series 14. Theory and Methodology of Art Education” peer-reviewed articles are published on issues of history, theory, and methodology of music education and art pedagogy.
This printed periodic scholarly journal is issued twice a year with continuous sequential numbering.
It has been published since 2004. The title was changed in 2023.

The journal’s policy ensures high standards of scientific competence.
The editorial board seeks to prevent any form of academic misconduct (e.g., plagiarism, misrepresentation of information, fraudulent use of data).

Each participant in the publication process (authors, editors, reviewers) is obliged to adhere to strict ethical standards based on the consolidated experience of the international academic community.

We adhere to the Code of Conduct of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
The Editorial Board follows the standards of the Elsevier Publishing Ethics Resource Kit.
Peer review is conducted through a double-blind review process.

A manuscript submitted to the Editorial Board is prohibited from being simultaneously submitted to other scientific journals.

The article must correspond to the journal’s thematic scope and include the relevance of the problem, aim, objectives, and the state of theoretical and practical development in the relevant scientific field. It must comply with the current state of science, be linguistically and scientifically edited, and include conclusions and perspectives for further research.

The relevance, aim, and objectives must be clearly formulated. The main text must follow the standard requirements of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine for scientific publications (VAK Bulletin, 2003, No. 1). The publication language is Ukrainian.

Volume – from 0.5 to 1.0 printed sheet (20,000–40,000 characters), approximately 10–20 pages.


Requirements for electronic manuscript formatting: the file must be submitted in Microsoft Word 2003–2007 format with the extension "doc" or "rtf";
IMPORTANT! Files with the extension "docx" are not accepted.

Font – Times New Roman; size – 14; line spacing – 1.5; margins – 2 cm on all sides.
Up to 65 characters per line.
No page numbering. Format – A4.
No style formatting or hyphenation.
Footnotes are not used.

Paragraph indent – 1.25 cm (automatic).
Authorial emphasis is allowed in italics or letter spacing, but not underlining (except URLs).
Figures, graphs, and tables are placed directly within the text.


ATTENTION! Avoid excessive spacing between characters and hidden formatting symbols.

On the first page, the author must indicate the UDC classification code.

References in the text are given in square brackets [10, p. 100].

Illustrative materials and tables – up to 4 items.

Two abstracts (Ukrainian and English) with keywords must be included.

Ukrainian abstract – placed before the main text, one paragraph (~800 characters).
Keywords – up to 8, alphabetically ordered, separated by semicolon (;).

English Abstract – 1800–3000 characters, placed after References.
• Automated translation tools are not allowed.
• Keywords – up to 8.


Bibliography (References / Literature): 5–7 sources (up to 20 in exceptional cases).
• DOI is recommended (if available).
• National standard: DSTU 8302:2015
• References must be transliterated and formatted in APA or BSI style.


ABOUT THE AUTHOR – full information in Ukrainian and English, including academic degree, title, affiliation, email, and ORCID.

For PhD students and applicants – a recommendation from the supervisor is required.

• A publication consent form must be signed.

• The author bears full responsibility for all provided information.

• Contact details must be included at the end of the manuscript.

Manuscripts that do not meet the requirements will be returned with a delay in publication.
