Statistical text processing techniques and their teaching methods

Abstract

The article highlights the peculiarities of teaching methods of statistical text processing techniques in the process of training future specialists in Applied Linguistics. Basic operations of quantitative text processing have been outlined and a possible approach to applying them by means of Python programming language has been suggested. The appropriateness of using Python and the NLTK (Natural Language Toolkit) platform resources for solving problems in computational linguistics has been substantiated. The author considers the task of the text file processing to calculate some quantitative parameters and suggests relative program codes.
