Contemporary Ukrainian piano music as a component of the pedagogical repertoire(on the example of the Podillia composers’ works)

Forming a piano repertoire by music teachers in postgraduate education includes pieces by Ukrainian composers. The use of piano music of the 20th century, as well as the latest samples, is of particular importance. In this context, the study of modern Ukrainian piano music becomes relevant. This is necessary from the point of view of revealing the potential of the music and its use in the educational process in music pedagogy. The article reveals artistic and pedagogical potential of the piano music from Podillya composers as H. Kurkov and O. Rieztsov. For this purpose, a comprehensive analysis of the piano cycles "Katrusia’s notebook" by H. Kurkov and "Giraffe-prankster" and "Paper boat" by O. Rieztsov were carried out. The stylistic features of their music, didactic and educational tasks, which are facilitated by working on the works of these composers in the piano class, are determined. Thus, "Katrusia's notebook" helps students to get acquainted with the typical features and means of expression of primary genres; adjusting their hearing to perceive modern harmonic sounds and complicated rhythms. It develops their sense of tone while mastering different strokes and different strength of sonority and forms a rehearsal technique. Studying the works of O. Rieztsov, in addition to the formation and development of various technical skills, can significantly expand the musical horizons and associative thinking of a young pianist. Composer’s methodical comments which accompany all the pieces, not only explain the meaning of the music itself, but also help the teacher in selecting techniques for the formation of certain performing skills.
