The article presents the results of a study on the relationship between the level of assertiveness in young adults and behavioral strategies in conflict situations. The aim of the study was to determine the nature of statistical relationships between the components of assertiveness and the specific features of conflict strategy selection, as well as to identify personality typological profiles based on assertiveness indicators and behavioral responses in conflict situations. The study employed correlation, cluster, and variance analyses, which made it possible to comprehensively assess the interdependence of the investigated characteristics. It was found that assertiveness is most strongly associated with the strategies of competition and accommodation. The study revealed that certain personality characteristics, including neuropsychological stability, readiness for active behavior, and constructive aggressiveness, may influence the choice of behavioral patterns in conflicts. Ward’s method of cluster analysis identified four assertiveness profiles in the context of conflict behavior: low-assertive non-confrontational, moderately low-assertive accommodating, highly assertive de-escalating, and moderately high-assertive confrontational profiles. The identified types demonstrated meaningful psychological differences, which were confirmed by the results of one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and the Kruskal–Wallis test. The practical significance of the study lies in the possibility of using the obtained results to develop differentiated psychological support programs, assertiveness development trainings, and strategies for forming constructive interaction in conflict situations. Further research perspectives include studying the stability of the identified profiles, their relationships with other behavioral strategies, and evaluating the effectiveness of psychological interventions aimed at developing cooperation and constructive conflict resolution.
